Anwar AlBasri, MD | Kuwait
PRE-CONGRESS DAY | WEDNESDAY, MARCH 1, 2023
This is intense five-hour workshop aims at providing basic skills of interpreting axial MRI in Spondylarthritis patients, delivered via a combination of short lectures as well as hand -on interactive case viewing. Case discussion range from normal MRI to MRI in SpA and its differential diagnosis. This will give the participants an all-rounded appreciation of critical pathologies seen in these rheumatological conditions. Attendees may submit cases prior to the workshop for discussion with the faculty
Demonstrate basic understanding of SIJ and Spine MRI pathology in SpA.
Demonstrate basic understanding of differential diagnosis of SIJ and Spine MRI pathology
Demonstrate the understanding of using radiographic modalities in diagnosis of axial SpA
Feature of axial-SpA on x-ray
Role of MRI in early disease
Pre-workshop assessment of the attendee’s knowledge.
Demonstrate basic understanding of SIJ and Spine MRI pathology in axial-SpA.
To be familiar with normal MRI appearance of SIJ and spine.
To understand the different MRI sequences including the standardized protocol used in evaluation of axial SpA.
To be able to identify sacroiliac joint and spine pathologies that contribute to diagnosis of axial SpA and understand the key clinical scenarios where MRI may change the management
To apply knowledge in clinical practice reflected by participant-case discussion at the end of the workshop
Demonstrate basic understanding of differential diagnosis of SIJ and Spine MRI pathology
To recognize the common pitfalls that can cause difficulties in differentiating SpA from other differential diagnosis.
What are the normal variations of SIJ and spine?
What is the role of MRI SIJ and Spine in early diagnosis of axial-SpA?
What constitutes a positive MRI for the classification of SpA?
Which SIJ/Spine lesions are most sensitive, and which are most specific in diagnosis Axial SpA?
What constitutes pathological versus physiological abnormalities in the SIJ/spine?
